Do You Remember When . . .
It’s a changing world we live in. Just going by
the games that boys & girls are playing these days, you can
really begin to wonder & ponder of your good old days.
Assortment of marbles, balls, skipping rope etc.
We played tops
We played hops
We played cigarette cards
That was fun for the hearts
We played rubber band
That was even considered grand
We played marbles
Or whatever games that followed.
Wooden Spinning Top
We had picnics & swim
We climbed up trees and swing
We flew kites
And fought them with might
Fighting fishes were our pride & kicks
Never a day gone by when we felt sick
These & lots of other things we did
Even mud & holes we might dig.
Player’ Cigarette Boxes or “Rough Rider”
Siamese fighting fish
Gone are the days when life was simple & free
Nothing complicating or sophisticated indeed
Simple game like ‘hide & seek’
Got to our heads & we shrieked
Life was fun, simple & gay
We always had things to play
Nothing fanciful that we had to pay
Riding a jalopy or home we stay.

Yes I remember those cigarette boxes. Wonder how you manage to get hold of these old ones.
In Malaya, I remember vividly “Rough Rider”
with a cowboy astride a horse with upraised rifle.
That was a different era altogether! Clean healthy
pastimes. All low tech.
Hey what happened to my doll, that I could fix it back after I dismantled it…..hee hee
Re: Do You Remember When………….
Hi Paul, great lovely photos you have here but I don’t remember them have never been in that situation, so I don’t know as you know.We lived in the village and we didn’t have wonderful life. Anyway that was good remembering how our life has improved. Yes in those day we don’t have any fear at all and everybody was so united and helpful to one another. Gone are those days. Nowadays people only care for themselves. They don’t care for others but what can we do. We cannot go back to the past so we have to move on and find sincerity that we once knew. Well my dear, we have to move on with our life and trust God for his love, guidance and mercy.
Take care. Good night and God bless you with divine health and long life.
Love in Christ
