Mankind need to reinvent the wheel of fortune to accommodate such humongous sum of money. Millionaires are cheaper by the dozen, even billionaires are numerous these days. But can you visualise what a trillion is?
It’s easy to be a millionaire even starting off with just one dollar. Now if you can double the resulting amount every consecutive day, without any hassle, you’d end up with a million in just three weeks. This is only simple addition & not geometric progression or exponential.
In the initial stage, while the sum is relatively small, your capacity & ability will not be taxed. But when the figures build up . . . then where would you find the equivalent amount to double up? See illustration below:
1 Day 1 starting off with 1 dollar
1 + 1 = 2
2 + 2 = 4
4 + 4 = 8
8 + 8 = 16
16 = 16 = 32
32 + 32 = 64
64 + 64 = 128
128 + 128 = 256
256 + 256 = 512 By Day 10 easy to double up
512 + 512 = 1024=2^10 By Day 11 in the thousand category
1024 + 1024 = 2048=2^11
2048 + 2048 = 4096
4096 + 4096 = 8192
8192 + 8192 = 16384
16384 + 16384 = 32768
32768 + 32768 = 65536
65536 + 65536 = 131072 Day 18 the amount is in the hundred of thousands
131072 + 131072 = 262144
262144 + 262144 = 524288
524288 + 524288 = 1048576 By Day 21 . . . if you CAN . . . you’ll be a millionaire!
Ironically, thing can start small & slow . . . but it builds up very SUDDENLY. Conversely, a millionaire was once asked how he lost his fortune. He simply said, “ First slowly. Then suddenly!” Yes, money has that power to multiply & deplete very suddenly.
Another Specimen of One Trillion Dollars ?
Everybody is talking & arguing about stimulus and spending huge amounts of money like they’re throwing away loose change!
What we need is a way to visualise the differences between a million, a billion and a trillion. Something that’s easily visualised is time. If we use seconds as our denomination . . .
1 Million seconds = 11.570 days
1 Billion seconds = 31.709 years
1 Trillion seconds = 31,709.791 years
Thus I Trillion Years is forever.
Now convert that to money …. and as Washington & the Fed toss around BILLIONS AND TRILLIONS like it’s loose change, you’ll have a better & clearer perspective.
What the American face now, is worse than the Great Depression. This is Hyper-Depression! United States, once the strongest country in the world, is quickly becoming insolvent as its banking system remains under-capitalised, its savings depleted and the inevitable consequence of the trillions of money supply growth is hyperinflation.
The $100 Bill in General Circulation
Above: One Trillion Dollars. Notice the size of a man’s figure on the left corner!
Also notice those pallets are double stacked. . . and remember those are $100 bills.
So the next time you hear someone toss around the phrase “trillion dollars”. . . that’s what they’re talking about.
A Trillion is Forever!
I don’t even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was good.
I don’t know who you are but definitely you are going to a famous blogger if
you aren’t already 😉 Cheers!
