Beware of Plumbers . . . especially so-called Master Plumbers!

Be very careful when dealing with self-proclaimed master plumbers, electricians or master tilers who glorify themselves with advertisements such as this:

IMG_4453  Best advertisement is still by word of mouth!

If you are dissatisfied with their performance or disservice, you have absolutely no recourse to pursue your claims & complaints. From my own personal experiences, I found their professional associations most protective of their own, the consumer affairs department would want you to first negotiate with them and settle the dispute among yourselves and further telling you straight that they are not in a position to compel them to abide by any decision reached. So where does the poor consumer stand? He stands to being fully exploited, slaughtered left & right. If you are a senior or pensioner, you are even more fair game. It’s cheaper to consult a doctor or lawyer!

I was most unfairly & unjustly charged for a Rinnai B20 continuous flow hot water system – a hefty frightful total of $3,282.50 . . . all well within the warranty period of one year (10 September 2012 till 4 April 2013). The cost of Rinnai B20 is just $949.00 the rest go towards enriching the plumber!

Once money is in hand, expect no further courtesy from them. Emails and phone calls get no response. It’s all your own fault! They well ignore you  most unprofessionally & against all business conduct & code of ethics shift the responsibilities to their fellow rivalries.

Goodwill & reputation are built up over time, but for a misguided CEO all it takes is a bit of dirt to wipe clean the slate of time.

One-time slaughter is not the game to be, Goodwill & customer care will forever be.

For your perusal, all correspondences & photographic evidences are available & will be inserted later.

You be the judge & jury.

Spread the word & protect yourself against all forms of exploitation & injustice.

DOWNING STREET AFFAIR: Semantha Cameron & Boris Johnson

Boris Johnson Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson (born 19 June 1964) is a British Conservative Party politician, who has served as Mayor of London since 2008. Initially coming to public attention as a journalist, he became editor of The Spectator in 1999, then later served as the Member of Parliament for Henley from the 2001 general election until 2008. Born in New York City, Johnson was educated at the European School of Brussels, Ashdown House School, Eton College, and Balliol College, Oxford, where he read Classics. – Wikipedia

Semantha Cameron Semantha Cameron is rumoured to have been unfaithful.

imagesPM David Cameron: What Am I To Do?

Boris Johnson is the man that is rocking the seat of 10 Downing Street &  Westminister. Prime Minister David Cameron was said to be “stunned” by the news, the importance of which he realised “immediately”.

No current cabinet member is believed to be involved, but it is said that the affair could be as publicly shocking as that between John Major and Edwina Currie which was kept secret for almost two decades.

grey01John & Edwina: Quiet Look of Love

Conservative England of today is different from its past. There was also a time when Dorothy Macmillan had an affair that lasted 30 years. Everyone knew but nobody talked.

The prime minister was Harold Macmillan; his wife was Lady Dorothy, rooted by birth in the English aristocracy, and her lover was Bob Boothby, later ennobled by Macmillan as Baron Boothby of Buchan and Rattray Head. The affair ended only with Dorothy’s death in 1966.

In meetings the Prime Minister Cameron and his aides discussed the potential implications of the affair becoming public, and the damage it could do to major political plans, the Mail reported.

Boris Johnson will retire into a blissful “bucolic existence” within five years, as he has no desire to serve another term as Mayor or try to be Prime Minister.

The London Mayor insisted he would no longer be in a powerful role by 2018 after fresh speculation that he “desperately” wants David Cameron’s job.

The basics of the story are this, as the Mail recently reported:

David Cameron has held crisis talks at Downing Street after being told of allegations of a sensational love affair which has potentially significant political implications for him.

The Prime Minister and his aides also discussed the possible fallout should details of the affair become public – and how such disclosure could ‘blow out of the water’ any major political set pieces planned by No 10.

AS REPORTED: two people not married to each other did the bump and grind and no one is allowed to say who they are.

Haynes St. Kalamunda. Looking down from Hans Cafe

The Shire of Kalamunda, in line with other Shires & City Councils,

has a scheme to aid pensioners & people with physical disabilities to live independent lives by providing them with gardening assistance, meals-on-wheels, home-care etc.

My wife & I have lived in Kalamunda Shire since 1988, and there is no other place in Perth that we rather be than right here in Perth Hills, where the air is fresh & the scenery more beautiful each day.

This is our home. There is no place like home.

Our Modest Home in Perth Hills

Of course, there is no free lunch in this whole wide world. There is always a price to be paid. But in this case, through the passion & compassion of the Shire, payment is subsidised. For instance, in the matter of gardening service as provided through Home and Community Care (HACC), the subsidised rate is only $8.00 per hour.

I am more than well qualified for the HACC Scheme – a man with more than three score & ten years of age, severe backache, severe glaucoma, diabetes . . . what more do I need to say. Initially, I was given two hours of gardening service once every four weeks.

However, one fateful date, one nice old HACC lady came by to reassess my entitlement. I told her at my age I would be lucky to maintain my healthy status quo & not getting any better or worse. That was on 17 of November 2011.

After the assessment, I was taken off the scheme! No particular reason was given. For weeks I was left in the lurch without any help 0r assistance whatsoever.

I wrote in a couple of times with medical evidences but to no avail. The irony was they were not interested in my medical conditions, which means that nothing medical nor age was ever considered. I was made to feel that perhaps it was a case ofracial discrimination. Legitimately, I have every right to my entitlement. But why should I be DEPRIVED.

Now, they reinstalled the service since 6 weeks ago – but only it’s going to be ONCE EVERY SIX WEEKS FOR ONE HOUR ONLY. On Monday, 8 October 2012, Michael our new gardener called and did a wonderful job from 12.45 PM to 1.45 PM. He was specifically instructed to do only our front yard!

Neglected Backyard – Tall grass & weeds

But what about my backyard? Well, I guess the grass & weeds got to stay long & plentiful, certainly not good for health & summer bush fire!

Michael was telling my wife that he was finding it tough to do his work within the hour allotted. He concurred that more time should be given and MORE FREQUENCY e.g. at once every three to four weeks & two hours at a stretch.

More regular cutting makes life easier for the gardener.

When saving a man . . .

You don’t save him in half measure!

China’s Aizhai Suspension Bridge, Hunan

Aizhai Bridge connects two traffic tunnels in the mountains, cutting the time needed to traverse the canyon from 30 minutes to 1. The bridge was built as part of the G65 Baotou–Maoming Expressway, an expressway in southwest China‘s Chongqing Municipality to Changsha, near to Jishou, Hunan.

With a main span of 1,146 metres (3,760 ft) and a deck height of 350 metres (1,150 ft), it is the sixth-highest bridge in the world and the world’s twelfth-longest suspension bridge. Of the world’s 400 or so highest bridges, none has a main span as long as Aizhai. It is also the world’s highest and longest tunnel-to-tunnel bridge. The bridge contains 1888 lights to increase visibility at night. (Wikipedia)

Construction took five years. Work finished at the end of last year, making it among the world’s longest and highest suspension bridge, carrying traffic 355 metres above the foot of Dehang Canyon. Construction of the bridge started in October 2007 and its main sections were completed at the end of last year. It is designed to help ease traffic in the mountainous region, where queues are common due to the narrow, steep and winding roads.

A brave worker put the final touches on the Anzhaite Bridge.

The bridge, which connects to two tunnels, was built to ease traffic.

Drivers can take in the views of the Dehang Canyon

Vehicles motor along a two-way, four-lane motorway. Pedestrians walk along it on a special walkway under the road.

Aizhai is the fourth suspension bridge in China to cross a valley so wide that it seems to be connecting two mountain ranges. The first three were the Siduhe, Balinghe and Beipanjiang 2009 bridges. Located deep in the heart of China’s Hunan Province near the city of Jishou, the suspension bridge is the largest structure on the Jishou to Chadong expressway with a deck 1,102 feet (336 mtrs) above the DeHang Canyon.

The two tunnels on either side of the Aizhai Bridge allowed the engineers to use the mountain top for the location of one of the towers, reducing its height to just 165 feet (50 m) – unusually short for a bridge with a span nearly as long as the Golden Gate bridge at 3,858 feet (1176 m). In addition to cost savings, the stubby support also allows the bridge to blend more naturally into its surroundings. The taller bridge tower is no less unique with side span cables that soar down the backside of a mountain, making first time visitors quizzical as to what exactly lies ahead.

With most of the structure hidden from view, the bridge will come as a jaw-dropping surprise whether you enter the canyon from either tunnel. Due to a gap of approximately 328 feet (100 m) between the last truss suspenders and the tops of the bridge towers, the engineers added some additional ground anchored suspenders to stabilize the two massive suspension cables and reduce any oscillations that could damage other components of the bridge. An overlook and visitors center will offer additional views of the broad valley.

China’s Luxurious Floating Aircraft-Carrier Hotel

The Kiev, a 1,000 foot vessel, once the pride of the flagship of the mighty Soviet navy’s Pacific fleet (first began December 1972), serving them well for almost twenty years, as well as being able to hold more than a thousand crewmen, she could be loaded with dozens of missiles – some nuclear-tipped.

But now the Kiev is leading a much more sedate & humble life . . . available for business retreats, intimate getaways or simple relaxation (without actually getting away). That’s because the Chinese have bought the aircraft carrier and transformed her into a floating luxury hotel, the world’s first luxury aircraft carrier hotel, costing $15 Million.

It’s strange to think that a ship that was once a weapon of war is now a place of relaxation and fine dining.

The Kiev will stay permanently docked at theTianjin Binhai Aircraft Carrier Theme Park. Much as a Soviet-era sailor might resent the indignity, Kiev won’t go back out to sea. She’ll entertain guests and clients at anchor, a bizarre museum to a different country’s naval power. Guests will relax with Western-style cuisine in ornate luxury suites, dreaming of Chinese seapower.

Sold to Tianjin International Recreation Port in 2000, the Kiev has been refitted, furbished & transformed into a world-class floating hotel with 148 room – including two presidential suites, three VIP guest rooms and 137 standard rooms. Since it was purchased over a decade ago, the Kiev has also been upgraded with a luxury restaurant – something the original crew would have no doubt killed for.
