The Gloom & Doom That Zoom!

b50554614

My message that was written & delivered on Sunday, 11 July 1999 bears witness

to the present day economic crisis with most scenario cases falling into places.

This is indeed shocking & absolutely unbelievable!

I had stood in front of the pulpit that Sunday morning with about a hundred congregation in attendance. I began the delivery with an introduction of a legendary story about the fact that “No one will get out of this world alive!”

This wonderful legend centres on the servant of a wealthy merchant in Baghdad who claimed to have seen DEATH in the market place raising its hand to strike him. Frightened as he was, he escaped & rushed home begging his master to lend him his fastest horse so that he could get away.

but where will you go?” asked the merchant.

I will go to Samarra,”explained the servant. “DEATH will not find me there.”

So the merchant gave his servant the fastest horse in his stables, and the servant rode swiftly off to the city of Samarra where he hoped to hide.

The merchant later went to the market himself to get his own supplies. While there he too saw DEATH. So he inquired of DEATH, “Why did you raise your hand to strike my servant a while ago?”

DEATH replied, “Actually I meant him no harm at that moment. Raising my arm was a gesture of surprise. You see, I didn’t expect to find him here, for I have an appointment with him tonight at Samarra!”

The servant of Baghdad would discover that no matter how fast the horse not how far the journey, he could not escape his appointment with DEATH.

The first human doom was spelt out right after Adam & Eve were driven out of the Garden of Eden when they disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit, “ . . . for when you eat of it you will surely die.” (Genesis 2 : 16 -17) . Human beings have been suffering & dying . . . paying the penalty of sin ever since the dawn of mankind.

Gross individualism & self-centeredness under the guise of human rights & individual freedom have contributed much to our present day problems. The realm of greed & covetousness further accentuates & breeds the abominable trend of modern day living of Sodom & Gomorrah – condoned particularly by the Western capitalistic world. When people deviate from the fundamental through the process of rationalization & justification, Satan under the guise of individualism & self-centeredness springs forth in all its ugliness.

God’s Commandments are very precise. There are no grey areas as people made out to be. Human ingenuity & supposedly superior intellect can only lead along the broad & straight road to condemnation and the gates of hell. Moral degradation is evident everywhere & nobody seem to care. With God you do not compromise to suit your own convenience & purpose. Our God is a God of order. His Commandments are expected to be obeyed.

It’s inevitable we’re heading towards the days of Sodom & Gomorrah . . . even worse. Biblically, those days were rather confined & restricted in terms of territories. Present day situation is happening globally! In Matthew 10:15, it is said: “I tell you the truth, it will be more bearable for Sodom & Gomorrah on the day of judgement than for . . . “.

Are the final days upon us? Is mankind so blind as to be wiped out by the twin perils of Armageddon and a doomsday comet? Signs are everywhere of Jesus’ Second Coming & God will establish Heaven on Earth, creating a virtual paradise for the true & faithful believers. The righteous will inherit life eternal in all its glories. Unless the unrighteous repent eternal condemnation is a certainty. Just like the days of old, as with the people of Sodom & Gomorrah. Unconcerned & believing not, the present generation of people will face judgement in a much more drastic way!

Standing on the threshold of the 21st Century & the advent of Y2K, world leaders through the United Nations are charting a new course for mankind. The plan calls for the yielding of the sovereignty of all nations to the United nations. It also plan to unite all religions. Foremost in the play of the “Big Brother Syndrome” is the US. The course of history is going to be changed drastically. The following features would become real:

  • A borderless world economy has already occurred in Europe

  • Collapse of world economy & globalisation (Rev. 18)

  • Introduction of Smartcard with “666” as identification (Rev 13)

  • Earthquake & natural calamities

  • Economic crisis in US, Europe & Japan

  • Loss of confidence in US currency

  • The rise & fall of Euro Dollars

  • Peace Treaty (Daniel 9:27)

  • Building of the Third Temple (II Thessalonians 2:4)

  • Desolation of Jerusalem (Luke 21:20 – 24)

  • Revelation of Anti-Christ & tribulation ( II Thessalonians 2: 1 -12)

This is indeed food for thought. Our days on earth are naturally numbered as they are. What more with such swift & cataclysmic changes. In the present era of instant communication & super highways, adverse happenings are verified truism that can be watched realistically on our small screen almost immediately as they happen.

NO MORE HEARSAY . . . MORE LIKE NEARSAY!

There is however hope & love for true believers. Our Lord Jesus lives. He is the same today as yesterday. He is alive and coming back to fulfil all the promises of God. All the other prophets in all religions have died and they are not coming back again, for they are all dead!

To be prepared rather than to be despaired!

Repent & be prepare for the Judgement Day is upon us. We would not be caught with “drink & be merry for tomorrow we die” attitude or be famished with “wine women & song” as though there’s no tomorrow.

God is offering you the gift of salvation & all you need do is to repent for your sins and accept Jesus as your personal Saviour and Lord of your life. God is gracious & forever faithful to His promises. His arms are wide open to receive you. There is a room waiting for you in Heaven . . . hopefully & prayerfully our final destination.

The Extraordinary Longevity of the Hunzakuts

hunza

The Hunza Country with a population of some 30,000 is situated at the extreme northern point of Pakistan/India, where the borders of Kashmir, China, India and Afghanistan converge. It’s a mountainous valley in the Gilgit-Baltistan autonomous region under the control of Pakistan government. The Hunza people or Hunzakuts are ruled by a Mir (King). It has been reported that a significant number of the Hunzakuts have survived to the incredible age of 145. Among these people centenarians are common.

According to reliable sources, it is not uncommon for a 90 year-old Hunzakut to father children.

hunzakutsThe Hunzakuts

These people were purportedly to have been descended & associated with Alexander the Great. Three generals in his army were said to have married Persian women. The generals betrayed Alexander by giving the Persians his plans. The generals, wives and a band of many soldiers fled when this was revealed. The valley of Hunza is thought to have been their valley of refuge because of its remote and secure location.

I first came by the above essential information some years back when researching on the question of longevity.

I cannot personally vouch the truth & validity of it all. This sounds too incredible. There’s such an abundance of information circulating in cyberspace today that before assimilating & accepting any you really need to research further. Also refrain from asking others, for opinions are about the cheapest commodities around, freely available.

This will be a worthwhile exercise to stimulate your mind, to energise & rejuvenate towards your own attainment of youth & longevity. Most people generally are gullible & accept anything in print as the Gospel truth, and yet ironically fail or reluctant to accept that which are written in the Holy Book.

In your quest for the truth, consider the following:

  • The Mir could have concocted the falsehood, just like he did with the news about the Abominable Snowmen in the Hunza mountains.

  • The Hunzakuts excelled in falsehoods about their ages, state of health & happiness.

  • The Hunzakuts kept no written records and did not know their calendar age.

  • The Hunza were not healthy or free from disease & lived in a very unsanitary environment.

  • The Hunza diet was not perfect as claimed.

  • The Mir of Hunza never provided verification of the longevity nor allowed others to investigate.

It would certainly be good to be able to live right up to 150 & beyond, still young, active & virile and able to father children at age 90. It’s said that truth sometimes is stranger than fiction, and often too that fiction is mistaken for truth.

Immortality – That Eternal Quest

Life is short

But immortality can only be our fervent lot!

0507250950118earth_wind_and_fire12__go

Ever since the dawn of mankind, men have always striven for that impossible dream – the dream of immortality. Huangdi, the legendary Yellow Emperor of China some 4,000 years ago, reputed to bring China under one entity & credited with many other innovative ideas & cultural aspects of life, was believed to have sent 500 young men & equal number of young women across to the islands of Japan in the fruitless search of the “immortality herbal myth”. Though not backed up by any documentary evidence, stories abound about the Japanese being the descendants of this batch of young Chinese men & women, who for fear of returning back to China chose to remain & settle in Japan.

Huangdi died young without discovering the immortality myth nor even the “fountain of youth” nor any “elixir of life”. Is immortality ever a possibility?

In the Bible, from Genesis to Revolution, nowhere is mentioned of that possibility, except of “the glory of immortality in the coming Kingdom” which Christ spoke of. Based on Hebrews 9:27, “And it is appointed unto men once to die, and after this the judgement.” 1 Corinthians 15:20-23 says that all die and all shall be resurrected, but Messiah must be first in the order. Enoch could not possibly have preceded him, especially if he were still flesh and blood as it says in verses 49-52.

Elijah, a prophet of God in the ninth century B.C., who was reputed to be taken on a whirlwind unto heaven “on a chariot of fire and horses of fire” (2 Kings 2:11), together with Moses, both appeared with Jesus at the Transfiguration – that was just a vision (Matthew 17:9). Both Elijah & Moses were still in their graves, but in vision both they & Jesus were seen in glory of the Resurrection, an event that Elijah & Moses had yet to attain (Hebrews 11:39). The Bible is clear that Jesus had to be the first one to be resurrected to eternal life as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 15:20, “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and becomes the firstfruit of them that slept.”

It is further attested in Romans 5:12 . “ . . . so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned” and in Romans 5:14, “ . . . death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned.”

In this DNA age, men can attain from three score to four score years of life with occasional media announcement of people living beyond the century limit. I believe the oldest living being is 105. I guess with the advancement of medical science & technology, men can live longer & healthier but not forever!

Interestingly & one of the most intriguing facts in the Bible relates to the immense life span of the patriarchs – Adam lived 930 years and Noah 950 years. Methuselah was the longest with 969 years. The Great Flood in Noah’s time changed all that.

Let’s all strive to live in peace and harmony – a world without wars. As it is, with climatic change, there are enough natural calamities to usher in suffering & misery.

From the womb to the tomb, the journey ends up with just one room of your choosing – either case is for all eternity!

The Cross

It was love, not nails, that kept Jesus on the Cross.”

05_08_5---Cross-on-a-Hill_web

Whether you’re a Christian or not, Catholic or Protestant, the Cross is familiar to all. To be condemned to die on the Cross, known as Crucifixion, so as to mutilate it & prevent its traditional honourable burial, was indeed a grave dishonour. This was a death deserved for criminals of the highest order; a great shame & full punishment of the law.

The Cross is the world’s single biggest identifiable sign. It is God’s greatest plus sign which:

  • converts all your minuses into pluses

  • changes your negatives into positives

  • reverts your shame into glory

  • redeems you from sin & makes you a child of God

  • renews & fortifies you – making a new YOU.

The World Largest Crucifix in UAE

While the VERTICAL points towards Heaven, from where all blessings flow, traversing geographically from north to south, the HORIZONTAL transcends & covers everybody irrespectively of colour, race or creed from east to west. Human beings are constantly burdened with the horizontal minus signs. We need God to provide that vertical stroke from up above to change all our minuses into pluses!

Look to the Cross, for on that Cross, your Redeemer & Saviour, Jesus, Son of God, died for you that you may have everlasting life (John 3:16). Through Him you should be able to achieve great things as stated in:

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

This Is The Day That The Lord Hath Made.”

For God so loved the world that he gave his one & only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

The Wind Of Change

There was a time when the Greenback was the most covetous note of legal tender even in the remotest part of the world. The American home, the American car, the American dreams and all things American were the most treasured & desired the world over. Ironically, since Barrack Obama who was elected solely on the premise of change, it’s the ill-wind that’s blowing nobody any good! But whatever happened to the power wielded by the Americans?

164

They say that truth is sometimes stranger than fiction. It is definitely strange to hear that American tourists are finding it hard to exchange a $100 bill on the street in Asia. Most of the money changers would rather take euros, Singapore dollars, even Chinese Yuan for fear of the sinking exchange rates. It just seems impossible that the Greenback is flatly rejected!

Along with the rejection of the dollar is the American Express card. Once the prime of all the cards, it is being turned down in many Asian establishments, though the MasterCard & the Visa are still acceptable. Locally grown cards are fast replacing the American ones.

In Asia would you believe that there’s an on-going joke in this present financial crisis that in the US even your pet could secure a credit card or a home mortgage? This is indeed laughable!

For too long, the Americans refused to believe that there was anything wrong with their living lifestyle, consuming far beyond their means, easy credit, greed being their creed and juggling repayments, if ever that being possible, with their string of credit cards. Under such circumstances, the word ‘budget’ does not come into play or is ever heard of. “No worries!” that what the Aussie is famous for saying.

Simple plain logic would tell you that you can’t keep on going on a spending spree without having the problem of repaying. Debts cannot be written off like relying on bankruptcy. It may seem grossly unfair that the same privilege extended to big company like General Motors is not for the man in the Main Street. Washington is definitely looking out for the big guns, bailing them out in distress, while the workers, most deserved of help, are left to struggle for their survival.

It’s the ill-wind that blows nobody any good. There has been no fundamental changes in the way that Washington functions. Ever since 1971 when Nixon did away with the Gold Standard of Exchange, Washington has most conveniently financed its way out of debts by resorting to steep borrowing with its sale of Treasury notes & bonds & the Federal Reserve printing more “fiat” paper money.

Historically, this has been the trend of funding its excessive expenses such as the Vietnam war. That is how US avails itself the tremendous edge & has been enjoying an exclusive privilege that allows the Americans to spend & spend, a case of over-consumption, to be subsidised by the rest of the world.

In so far as the US government guarantees to honour its value and the rest of the world accept it as legal tender, the dollar plays its role. In fact, the system works extremely well for the US, far too well, that whenever it ran short of money, it conveniently printed or print its “fiat” money as required.

Emerging economies – China, Russia, India,Brazil (CRIB) – have enough with being dominated by the US Dollar. Enough is enough of the sleepless nights in Beijing where it risks devaluation of its trillions of foreign assets held in US Treasury bonds. China has been urging a change in the medium of trading exchange & has in fact taken leading steps in reducing its purchase of US Treasury bonds.

China has been encouraging its 1.3 billion population to invest in gold & silver, while converting more of its US currency holdings as well. It’s working hard at converting its billions of US dollars before the Greenback tanks. Already, it has even started with its Yuan as the means of trading exchange among the Asian emerging countries in five key cities in Pearl Delta Economic region including Hong Kong. The initial attempt appeared to be working very well indeed.

It’s reported that this month, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority has removed all its physical gold holdings from the depositories in London and transferring them to a high-security facility close to Chek Lap Kok airport in Lantau Island.

It goes to show that China has fundamentally lost confidence in the US dollar & is shifting its to a partial Gold Standard through reserve accumulation. However, China has to do so carefully so as not stimulate the market.

Is there no end in sight of the US sky-high deficits, record shattering borrowing by the US Treasury & the runaway printing by the Federal Reserve? The US government’s official debt now stands at an all-time high of $11.8 trillion – that’s over $100,000 for each & every household in America. Over the next 10 years the cumulative effect would be another $9 trillion, bringing the burden per household to $177,000. Other total liabilities & the unfunded government IOUs on Social security, Medicare & Federal Pension payments would push skyward the debt burden of over 1 Million Dollars per household!

Do you begin to see how bleak & gloomy down the posterity lane? The days of prosperity are gone for the American family. Together with its descendants, the American family would have to toil for the next 429 years just to pay off its national debt, assuming every family can save 5% of its income & channel towards its repayment. This is indeed a serious indictment!

The Danger Of Losing One’s Culture

With the imposition or superimposition of culture in today’s society through globalisation, instant communication & exposure . . . nobody is isolated nor can anyone withstand the onslaught of western influence. The perils & thrills of modern life kill & spill all hope of preserving the sanity of life. The “iron curtain” has been torn down and now the “bamboo curtain” is fast disappearing!

00422366

The Chinese society is essentially built around the family system & strong kinship ties. As a method of bonding, honour & respect for each respective individual, and also to distinguish each member of the family within the kinship hierarchy, respectful names are accorded. We do not address anyone by his or her own name. Plain address of “uncle” or “auntie” is not enough (although acceptable in modern time). To distinguish whether the relative is from the paternal or maternal side, we address an uncle from paternal side as “su su” and “chiu chiu” from the maternal.

Informality & friendliness must in no way interfere with the culture system, as to dispense with the question of respect when a son addresses his own father by his name or similarly with his father’s contemporary! This reflects badly on the family itself. Like I used to say, “Such a nice boy but badly brought up!”

All these respectful addresses keep everybody in his or her own respective places & status in life. By such addresses, the generation hierarchy is known straightaway. Even with outsiders & strangers, a person of good breeding will accord respectful address of titles by virtue of age differences & generation gaps.

We have inherited a civilisation of thousand & thousand of years old, steeped in rich culture & tradition, unsurpassed by any other in the world. The fact that this civilisation remains unbroken, undiminished & ever awakening, speaks well for itself & that the Chinese must be doing something right down through the ages. There just got to be a system by which asll things function. Can you imagine what chaos will there be if one planet in the universe decides to go on its own? They say that the chain is as strong as its weakest link.

The question of personal freedom can sometimes swing beyond the pendulum limit. Self-centredness & gross individualism have contributed much chaos. It is all a question of disregarding others. Egotism is spelt with the capital “I” and “you” is always spelt with a small “y”. When we start to care less for the other person & let self-centredness & gross individualism take over us, something is bound to break. Today’s social problems are undoubtedly attributed to such predominant thinking. We’re becoming impersonal, totally insensitive & lacking in the element of care. The story of the Good Samaritan no longer holds as much attention as the negative & sensational stories of murder, divorce or hot gossips. Nnnnnnn]].,bnmnnnnnnnnnnnnn.Just where is our world heading to? All the multi-media lend support to sensational & negative news – for such promotion is commercially profitable, as against good old positive news. Even politicians dependent upon on their constituent support for their political well-being are swayed & blown with the wind.

We no longer accept the simple truth of black & white. With the growing & dominant “grey” group, justification & rationalisation breed polarisation. Varieties of interest groups mushroom lending support to just about anybody. The saddest aspect for the nation is that political leaders, for want of political support & survival, prefer a low profile approach & not even taking a firm stand.

I may not be entirely correct in my rambling thoughts and would be most glad to hear from anyone who thinks otherwise or has anything more to add.

Rent For Apartment

The subtlety of regret & the equally profound spontaneous response, by way of written notes over the worthiness of the sexual venture, elucidate the class, refinement & ethics of it all.

s-PROSTITUTE-large

In my years of emailing, I have seen some pretty good jokes in circulation. This particular one “Rent for Apartment” beats them all in terms of subtlety, class & refinement. Nothing offensive & since it’s been rarely seen, thought I share it with my blog readers.

A man met a beautiful girl and she agreed to spend the night with him for $500. So, they spent the night together. In the morning, before he left, he told the girl that he did not have any cash with him, but that he would have his secretary write a check and mail it to her, calling the payment “Rent for Apartment.”

On the way to the office, he regretted what he had done, realizing that the whole event was not worth the price. So, he sent a check for $250 and enclosed a note:

“Dear Madam, Enclosed you will find a check in the amount

of $250 for rent of your apartment. I am not sending the amount agreed upon because when I rented the apartment, I was under the impression that:

1. It had never been occupied

2. There was plenty of heat

3. It was small enough to be cozy & at home.

Last night, however, I found out that it had been previously occupied, that there wasn’t any heat, & that it was entirely too large.”

Upon receipt of the note, the girl immediately sent back the following reply:

“Dear Sir, First of all, I cannot understand how you expect such a beautiful apartment to remain unoccupied indefinitely. As for the heat, there is plenty of it if you know how to turn it on. Regarding the space, the apartment is indeed of regular size, but if you don’t have enough furniture to fill it, please don’t blame the landlady.”

No Pain No Gain. . . Suffering Builds Character

The hands that toil

The heart that hurts

The spirit depresses

The body that aches

The hope that dims

Emotion fray

All contribute to building of character.

image004Samson & Delilah

Steel is only as good and strong as it is until & unless it has undergone through extreme pressure and heat. A person’s character is by no means any different. It must go through the mills of life to be worth anything at all. To be strong, courageous and principled and not to be swayed, a person’s character must be able to withstand the onslaught of all kinds.

In Biblical times, we see many examples of heroic character. Samson, made more famous by the Hollywood depiction on the big screen of “Samson and Delilah” was strong & brave and could single-handedly defeat the whole army of enemies. He was however weak in character and fell victim to the wiles of Delilah. Samson had great anointing by lacked character.

Of greater significance to illustrate character building is the fine example of Joseph. “ . . . It is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.” (Genesis 41:52). Bullied by his brothers, sold into slavery, taken for dead, departed from his family and imprisoned in Egypt he was ultimately raised to prosperity. All the time of suffering, he was growing roots deep into the spiritual soil of his soul.

Suffering builds character. In nature, whenever there is a famine, tree roots are forced to grow deeper into the soil to find water. Times like these are designed to created a deep-rooted faith that our nature will be transformed forever. No doubt while in the midst of it all, we may invariably ask why all these sufferings. Such is human nature.

Sex’s Free . . . Love Costs

Sex’s Free . . . Love Costs

Is sex free? Doesn’t it cost in a relationship like love?

Perhaps it’s true to say “Why buy the cow when you can milk it for free.”

BATH-Goodall_Davids_promise.JPGOld King David being attended to by fair maidens

It’s a well known fact that man is about the only animal creation, with the exception of bonobos (pygmy chimpanzees) & dolphins, that indulges in “sex for pleasure”. Would you rather hold steadfast to the basic fundamental concept that sex is intended more for procreation? Like all pleasurable things, there’s this natural tendency of “abuse” rather than “use”.

In a proper perspective, where the activity is mutually pleasurable & beneficial, to say the least, where does cost come into play? The strange & ironic fact is that men are prepared to pay for their pleasure – to satisfy their urge to get that “feel good” disposition. In the absence of this element, if it were at all possible, then the oldest professional trade known to mankind would be non-existent.

Prostitution, however, has long been around . . . right from Biblical times. Why & how does “sex for pleasure” exist? Understandably, it is this copulation between the male & female (of any species) where such activity takes place apart from the pleasurable purpose of procreation or fertilisation. The theory or concept that a male is less likely to stray but staying put with one particular female partner, if she were more receptive to sex all the time & not just when she was fertile, is hardly ever practical or possible. For this reason, females generally develop that feigned or concealed ovulation to hold on to their men & trusting them to assist in the child-bringing up process.

Then again, men are by nature polygamous, always on the hunt for new conquests. (I guess the reverse could also be true for the sexually unsatisfied wives or females). In this respect, King Solomon was said to have over seven hundred wives of royal birth (for political reasons) & three hundred concubines (1 Kings 11:3). Even King David, a man after God’s own heart, acquired a young virgin, named Abishag, the prettiest in all the land, to keep him warm during his last dying days (1 Kings 1:1-3). David however had no intimate relations with her. Needless to say, the Chinese emperors through the different dynasties always had hundreds of concubines.

The Hebrew Bible is clear about men having multiple sex partners, for wives ensured legitimate heirs. Sadly however, a woman was limited to just one sex partner who ruled over her, unless she was a prostitute.

It seemed so utterly unfair to the woman that she would be punished harshly if caught to be unfaithful, whereas the man reserved the right for himself to engage in intercourse with a multitude of women. Right through Biblical history, all the great Patriarchs like Abraham, Jacob & Judah had multiple wives & concubines and they even delighted themselves with the occasional prostitute (Genesis 38:15). Isaac, considered by some scholars as a “legendary figure” was the exception of the Patriarchs. He was monogamous. Would you love your wife as Isaac loved Rebecca?

This is not a morality lesson & the discourse does not include deviant sexual practices. It elucidate the fact that sex is freely available, but love costs in terms of maintenance support & care & the fulfilment of responsibilities. There is a hefty price to be paid attached to being in love.

This presentation is not fully comprehensive, as I am in no way a professional sex therapist or doctor to know more than what I know. So I invite you, my readers, to offer your comments.

The First Day Of Spring

The First Day Of Spring

Spring is the elegance & fragrance of life, unlike Summer which often

brings on the heat setting you on fire, while Autumn days tend to fall short of

green with dwindling light before the onset of the cold Winter.

Wildflowers.SunLakes.Mar.2008.JPGWildflowers Galore in Spring

It’s the exuberance of Spring

That brings on the zing!

With Spring everything leaps & bounces, jumps, vaults & hops. The atmosphere is one of life – exhilarating, rejuvenating, refreshing, proliferating, stimulating & exciting. These aspects of nature are noticeably transcending in its wake onto the human sphere. You take in your first breath of air on the first day of Spring and you’ll find yourself beginning to sing.

You sing of the flowers in their many colours, of the birds in the air or trees in the garden in tune with the joy in your heart & love in the air . . . young & old, hand in hand, strolling in the parks or tracking in the hills. The streams flow to the cascading waterfall, gurgling here & splashing there. The sun shines with the blue in the sky.

250px-Colorful_spring_gardenColourful Spring Blooms

Yes, Spring is seen as a time of growth & renewal of life – a time for better things to come. There’s cause for celebration with the brightening of the day after the dullness of winter.

Geographically speaking, in Spring the axis of the earth is increasing its tilt toward the sun, thereby lengthening the daylight, which in turn warms up the atmosphere causing new plants to “spring forth”. Hence, the significance in the name of “Spring”.

007Red Tulips & Everlasting

Lest you should be confused, Australia is that great continental mass that lies in the Southern Hemisphere. Here, everything runs counter to life in the Northern Hemisphere. While you often & always associate snow or cold with Christmas celebration, the Australian will be sweating over the BBQ stove or having their fun in the sun on the beach. In Australia, the Southern Hemisphere, Spring runs from September into November.

Having lived the greater part of my matured life in Malaysia with two good years of sojourn in the United Kingdom, life “Down Under” is truly & appreciatively wonderful. Because of its conducive & exhilarating weather, virtually throughout the year, everyday is like a holiday. Like the advertisement they run on TV: “Beautiful Today. Perfect Tomorrow”. What more can you ask for. You can have your day in the sun or golf for fun. We are indeed so lucky – that’s why it’s called the “Lucky Country”.
