. . . the Japanese art of folding paper into decorative shapes & figures.

As featured in my preceding article “Beautiful Life on the Drive”, Won Park  the owner & master of origami, actually made a living out of this traditional Japanese art. He does so characteristically unique with featuring the American dollar bills & displaying them in various shapes , sizes & forms.

Bending, twisting & folding he creates life-like shapes in stunning details.

Won Park is invariably known as “Money Folder”.

Be amazed by his creations!

Of Force and Fury . . . No Man Can Rally!

Pointing at another person is aggressive and d...

By P Chong                                                      Sunday, 20 March 2011

With riots, civil unrest & wars raging in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Egypt . . . and the ever turbulent relationship between the Palestinians & the Jews, earthquakes & volcanic activities with the recent unprecedented disaster of Japan . . . you begin to wonder whether the world is indeed coming to an end. Globally, history has yet to record a more turbulent period than the present.

Just when things are going to be right for Japan suffering & recovering from its decade of economic downturn, the country was shocked to disbelief by a phenomenal earthquake – the worst in its 140 years of recorded geological-seismic history with a reading of 9 on the Richter Scale or 7 out 7 according to its Japanese scale. The atomic bombs in Hiroshima & Nagasaki paled in absolute significance when compared with the force & fury of nature across its length of north-eastern Pacific coast. It was one tsunami after another that swept through engulfing everything in their way.

It is said & believed that sins of the fathers will come to bear right through to the fourth generation. Is this what is happening for their horrible WW2 atrocities?

This present global upheaval has been prophesied. Believe it or not, Christians or non-Christians, just open up your mind & hearts.

(The prophecy of “The Time Of Shaking” was given by Lance Lambert in 1986 in a Prophetic Conference in Jerusalem.

153 prophets from 30 to 40 nations had

gathered to wait upon the Lord and to hear from the Lord. The highlights of

this prophecy to the entire body of Christ are as follows…)

“It will not be long before there will come upon the world a time of unparalleled upheaval and turmoil. Do not fear for it is I the Lord who am shaking all things. I began this shaking with the first worldwar and I greatly increased it through the second world war.

Since1973 I have given it an even greater impetus. In the last stage, I plan to complete it with the shaking of the universe itself, with signs in the sun and moon and stars. But before that point is reached,

I will judge the nations when the time is near. It will not only be by war and civil war, by anarchy and terrorism, and by monetary collapses that I will judge the nations, but also by natural disasters: by earthquakes, by shortages and famines and by old and new plague diseases. I will also judge them by giving them over to their own ways, the lawlessness, to loveless selfishness, to delusion

and to believing a lie; to false religion and an apostate church,

even to a Christianity without me.

Do not fear when these things begin to happen, for I disclose these things to you before they commence in order that you might be prepared, and that in the day of trouble and of evil you may stand firm and overcome. For I purpose that you may become the means of encouraging and strengthening many who love me but who are weak. I desire that through you many may become strong in me, and that multitudes of others might find my salvation through you.

“And hear this! Do not fear the power of the Kremlin, nor the power of the Islamic Revolution, for I plan to break both of them through Israel. I will bring down their pride and their arrogance, and shatter

them because they have blasphemed my name. In that day I will

avenge the blood of all the martyrs and of the innocent ones whom

they have slaughtered. I will surely do this thing for they have

thought that there was no one to judge them. But I have seen their ways and I have heard the cries of the oppressed and of the persecuted and I will break their power and make an end of them.

Be ye therefore prepared for when all this comes to pass, to you

will be given the great opportunity to preach the Gospel freely to

all nations. In the midst of all the turmoil and shaking, and at the

heart of everything, is My Church in the heaven lies. She is joined to Me in one Spirit and I have destined Her for the throne. You who are My beloved, whom I have redeemed and anointed – you are Mine. I will equip and empower you and you will rise up and do great things in My Name, even in the midst of darkness and evil. For I will reveal My power, and My grace and glory through you. Do not hold back nor question My ways with you for in all

My dealings with you I have always in mind that you should be

part of My Bride and reign with Me. Do not forget that this requires discipline and training. So yield to Me that I might do a work in you in the time which is left for I plan even during all this shaking the Bride will make Herself ready.

“For in the midst of these judgments multitudes upon multitudes

will be saved from the nations. You will hardly know how to bring the harvest in, but my Spirit will equip you for the task. And to Israel, will I also turn in that day, and I will melt the hardening which has befallen her. I will turn their blindness into clear sight, and tear away the veil on their heart. Then shall they be redeemed with heart bursting joy, and it will become a fountain of new and resurrection life to the whole company of the redeemed.

“Do not fear for these days, for I have purposed that you shall stand with Me and serve Me in them. Fear not, for I love you and I will protect you and equip you. I, the Lord, will anoint you with a new anointing and you will work My works and fulfil My counsel. You

shall stand before Me, the Lord of the whole earth and serve Me

with understanding and with power and you shall reign with Me

during these days. Above all, I call you to be intercessors.”

It’s already Gloomday

But now it’s more like Doomsday!

Be prepared for the Kingdom of God is nigh

Evil shall perish . . . the good shall prevail.

AMEN!

Greatest Earthquake in 140 Years Hit Japan

By P Chong                                                        Saturday, 12 March 2011

Via NHK Japan/English Satellite TV

Until last night I hadn’t known that my youngest brother Mike, Pacific Regional Manager for DuPont, was still in Tokyo, as he told me he was on his way to the U.S. Spoke to him on Skype last night and what a first-time seismic experience for him!

He was in the street when the greatest earthquake in 140 years hit off-shore the Island of Honshu, with its epicentre only 24 Km beneath the sea. Tokyo shook . . . chaos reigned . . . everything stopped functioning. No taxis were available & he had to walk with jostling crowds all the way back to his hotel.

The magnitude of the earthquake was said to be 8.8 in the Richter Scale. On the Japanese Scale of 0 to 7, it measured 7. The time was 2.46 pm on Friday, 11 March 2011.

Japan lies in the seismic zone known as “The Ring of Fire” which encircles the Pacific Rim – Philippines, Indonesia, New Zealand, East Coast of South America, up to California and right up to Alaska. Tsunami warning was let out to all these places. Initial tsunami waves in Japan were as high as 7 metres & 10 metres. All low lying coastal areas were subsequently warned of evacuation to higher ground. According to Meteorological Agency waves as high as 2 to 3 metres are to be expected with subsequent after shakes recorded in the region of 6.6 Richter Scale.

At the time of writing, NHK satellite TV of Japan announced death toll to be over 422 & 740 missing, but final figures would be hard to confirm. Japan does look to be one ‘ring of fire’.

Took some shots directly from the TV as the scenes were being televised. So here are the shots for your perusal . . .

The sheer force of tsunami waves engulfing everything in its path! Engulfing water full of debris & devastated materials!

Talk of the might & power of any country . . . all pale in significance when compared to the might of God. We are so very insignificant! Be humble man!

Everywhere ablaze . . . smoke & fire along the Pacific coast of Japan

As reported on Sunday, 13 March 2011 at 2.57 am, casualties stood at 680 and it could go beyond 1,000. In fact, in Miyagi Prefecture alone, it is estimated the casualties could be as high as 10,000. It’s the aftermath of the quake bringing on tsunami waves as high as 7,3 metres one after another. According to RT Satellite TV reports, Japan stands the danger of a nuclear disaster similar to that of Chernobyl with the detection of nuclear leaks as a result of explosions at Fukushima nuclear plant to the north of Tokyo. Four injured casualties were found to be affected by radiation leaks with more people being tested.. The question is how bad & extensive will it be & whether it can be contained.

It is feared that this earthquake disaster will stall Japan’s effort to recover from its weak economy. Authorities need to do far more than merely evacuate people from the area. This is a great national tragedy and Japan has appealed for international help.

All along the Pacific coast of Japan, casualties & death keep on mounting. Modern society has never seen the like of it. It’s staggering . . . a disaster that sees the engulfing seas of waves devastating entire villages & towns. It’s nature unleashing all its fury & might. Is this the sign from God, I wonder!

Miyazaki Ocean Dome: Largest Indoor Water Park in the World – Japan

By P Chong                                  24 April 2010

From the natural to the supernatural, from reality to fantasy, from the possible to the impossible, man’s ingenuity & capacity never fail to astound you. In this DNA era, many of the greatest, largest, tallest structures have come about to fulfil the “impossible dream”!

Who said “you can’t build castles in the air”? Like what Dr Napoleon Hill, the author of “Think & Grow Rich” fame, would say:

Whatever the mind of man can conceive & believe, it can achieve.”

Nowadays, it’s all a question of money!

The World’s largest indoor pool, Miyazaki Ocean Dome, Sheraton Seagaia Resort, is a large resort complex in Miyazaki, Japan.

It’s got the capacity to hold up to 10,000 people!

The name Seagaia is a combination of the words “sea” and “gaia”, which means earth. The Ocean Dome is listed on the Guinness World Records as biggest world indoor water park. It opened in 1993 in Miyazaki, Japan. Closed in 2007, it is now totally renovated as home to enormous indoor water park with white sandy beach, palm trees, water slides and a wave machine capable of surf-levels.

The new beach is huge approximately as many 6 football fields that allows everybody to lie on “own beach”. The temperature is like the Copacabana – about 30 C to the air and about 28 C to the water.

The central point of this artificial beach is the retractable roof, which will be opened on sunny days, on less sunny days it is closed. However the clear ceiling provides you with a perfect blue sky.

The Ocean Dome is only one part of the Sheraton Seagaia Resort, which offers several of hotels, World Convention Center for 5,000 participants, restaurants, tennis courts, shops, golf, board rental, zoo, and many other activities.

The Overseas Chinese

The South China Sea

Image via Wikipedia

The Overseas Chinese

(With particular reference to Malaysia)

KLsunriseSunrise Over Malaysian Capital KL

The Overseas Chinese, a term first came to be used with reference to the pioneering Chinese who for hundreds of years, have emigrated across the South China Sea seeking fortune & exploring unknown lands. Most came through sheer economic pressure at home with the expressed desire & hope of returning home one day.

The home returning never materialised. While many sent for their loved ones or arranged brides, others settled down inter-marrying with the locals. My grandparents were both from Fujian Province in China. The majority of the Overseas Chinese remain ethnically & distinctively Chinese, except for a minority who married the locals, such as the ‘Babas’ of Malacca. My wife’s grandparents were both from China. Her maternal grandfather was a high government official.

This writing is to set the record right in the history of Malaysia. History cannot lie, though vain attempts have been made to eradicate the horror of the Holocaust & the war atrocities by the Nazis & Japanese. Turning back the pages of history, the following facts are borne out lucidly:

  • While the Malays, less competitive in their lifestyle, were mainly &

traditionally in the rural areas, the Chinese were concentrated in the urban areas engaging in trading & business activities, rubber & tin mining, building factories & townships.

  • The generations following the pioneering Chinese were all born

in Malaysia – so rightly & legally can claim their birthright in the

    land of their birth.

  • The Chinese, past & present, are a definite asset to Malaysia. Whatever wealth & fortune accumulated by them are spelt with sweat & toil, strictly meritoriously.

The Chinese are very independent, most resilient & tolerant in nature. They are more individualistic than communal. They are certainly not religiously fanatic. They are known to be most assiduous in their economic pursuits, with the courage, strength & tenacity to face all adversities. Despite claims & illusions deliberately created about the Chinese expansionist myth, the Chinese with all their secret societies are definitely not politically inclined, at l;east not in the Western concept.

The Malaysian Chinese are much to be blamed for the present political woes in the country. With their weighted concentration in commerce & industries, they neglected the political arena, leaving it to the less competitive Malays to wield & seal their political clout. As it turned out, with political power, everything else fell unto their lap – with the Chinese & Indians tolling the line. As way back as 1970s, Datuk Musa Hitam, then the Deputy Prime Minister, confirmed this truth when addressing an ADMO (Alliance Direct Membership Organization – now non-existent) assembly.

People should be respected & accepted as they are. Every human being is the same the world over. They have the same hope, dreams & aspiration in life, though they may differ in colour, culture & language. There is no such thing as royal or elite blood, otherwise the procedure of blood donation & transfusion would be difficult. The main blood groups & composition are scientifically or racially undifferentiated.

Historian Arnold Toynbee emphasized the Chinese migrational trend as “peaceful penetration”. The feared “Yellow Peril” just does not exist, nor will ever be. There is no threat at all, either imminently or belligerently. Even China today advocate very strongly a peaceful & harmonious co-existence.

Why all these political divisions? Why such polarisations? Why the sporadic outbursts of racism? Why such persecutions & social injustices? Why all the discrimination & seizing all power to dominate?

Both the Chinese & the Indians have contributed much in the nation building.

They have given much but received nuts. How much more do you want? Enough is enough. Be fair & just.
