With riots, civil unrest & wars raging in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Egypt . . . and the ever turbulent relationship between the Palestinians & the Jews, earthquakes & volcanic activities with the recent unprecedented disaster of Japan . . . you begin to wonder whether the world is indeed coming to an end. Globally, history has yet to record a more turbulent period than the present.

Just when things are going to be right for Japan suffering & recovering from its decade of economic downturn, the country was shocked to disbelief by a phenomenal earthquake – the worst in its 140 years of recorded geological-seismic history with a reading of 9 on the Richter Scale or 7 out 7 according to its Japanese scale. The atomic bombs in Hiroshima & Nagasaki paled in absolute significance when compared with the force & fury of nature across its length of north-eastern Pacific coast. It was one tsunami after another that swept through engulfing everything in their way.

It is said & believed that sins of the fathers will come to bear right through to the fourth generation. Is this what is happening for their horrible WW2 atrocities?

This present global upheaval has been prophesied. Believe it or not, Christians or non-Christians, just open up your mind & hearts.

(The prophecy of “The Time Of Shaking” was given by Lance Lambert in 1986 in a Prophetic Conference in Jerusalem.

153 prophets from 30 to 40 nations had

gathered to wait upon the Lord and to hear from the Lord. The highlights of

this prophecy to the entire body of Christ are as follows…)

“It will not be long before there will come upon the world a time of unparalleled upheaval and turmoil. Do not fear for it is I the Lord who am shaking all things. I began this shaking with the first worldwar and I greatly increased it through the second world war.

Since1973 I have given it an even greater impetus. In the last stage, I plan to complete it with the shaking of the universe itself, with signs in the sun and moon and stars. But before that point is reached,

I will judge the nations when the time is near. It will not only be by war and civil war, by anarchy and terrorism, and by monetary collapses that I will judge the nations, but also by natural disasters: by earthquakes, by shortages and famines and by old and new plague diseases. I will also judge them by giving them over to their own ways, the lawlessness, to loveless selfishness, to delusion

and to believing a lie; to false religion and an apostate church,

even to a Christianity without me.

Do not fear when these things begin to happen, for I disclose these things to you before they commence in order that you might be prepared, and that in the day of trouble and of evil you may stand firm and overcome. For I purpose that you may become the means of encouraging and strengthening many who love me but who are weak. I desire that through you many may become strong in me, and that multitudes of others might find my salvation through you.

“And hear this! Do not fear the power of the Kremlin, nor the power of the Islamic Revolution, for I plan to break both of them through Israel. I will bring down their pride and their arrogance, and shatter

them because they have blasphemed my name. In that day I will

avenge the blood of all the martyrs and of the innocent ones whom

they have slaughtered. I will surely do this thing for they have

thought that there was no one to judge them. But I have seen their ways and I have heard the cries of the oppressed and of the persecuted and I will break their power and make an end of them.

Be ye therefore prepared for when all this comes to pass, to you

will be given the great opportunity to preach the Gospel freely to

all nations. In the midst of all the turmoil and shaking, and at the

heart of everything, is My Church in the heaven lies. She is joined to Me in one Spirit and I have destined Her for the throne. You who are My beloved, whom I have redeemed and anointed – you are Mine. I will equip and empower you and you will rise up and do great things in My Name, even in the midst of darkness and evil. For I will reveal My power, and My grace and glory through you. Do not hold back nor question My ways with you for in all

My dealings with you I have always in mind that you should be

part of My Bride and reign with Me. Do not forget that this requires discipline and training. So yield to Me that I might do a work in you in the time which is left for I plan even during all this shaking the Bride will make Herself ready.

“For in the midst of these judgments multitudes upon multitudes

will be saved from the nations. You will hardly know how to bring the harvest in, but my Spirit will equip you for the task. And to Israel, will I also turn in that day, and I will melt the hardening which has befallen her. I will turn their blindness into clear sight, and tear away the veil on their heart. Then shall they be redeemed with heart bursting joy, and it will become a fountain of new and resurrection life to the whole company of the redeemed.

“Do not fear for these days, for I have purposed that you shall stand with Me and serve Me in them. Fear not, for I love you and I will protect you and equip you. I, the Lord, will anoint you with a new anointing and you will work My works and fulfil My counsel. You

shall stand before Me, the Lord of the whole earth and serve Me

with understanding and with power and you shall reign with Me

during these days. Above all, I call you to be intercessors.”

It’s already Gloomday

But now it’s more like Doomsday!

Be prepared for the Kingdom of God is nigh

Evil shall perish . . . the good shall prevail.

AMEN!

Cancer: Man’s Own Doing?

By P Chong                                                             Mon. 25 Oct. 2010

Blood runs through our veins

In modern day living Cancer is the bane.

Google Picture of Mummy

When young I had often wonder why the study of archaeology or anthropology. I just couldn’t visualise the benefits to the living human. Directly or indirectly, they have much relevance & reveal hidden knowledge to the medical field. For instance, archaeology & the study of Egypt mummies have proved that cancer was extremely rare in ancient times.

Leading medical researchers are led to conclude from archaeological findings that cancer is a relatively modern disease, brought on by our lifestyle & diet – being most endemic in industrialised societies. Could this be conclusive?

National Geographic: Breast Cancer Survivors

US-based writer & investigator Terrence Aym’s article on “Egyptian Mummies Prove Cancer Is Man-Made” claims that while “cancer kills millions of people annually . . . the strange fact is that there is no trace of the insidious killer among the remains of ancient peoples”.

Professor Michael Zimmerman, the US biologist, recently declared in an interview with a British newspaper, “In an ancient society lacking surgical intervention, evidence of cancer should remain in all cases”. However, in a study of the Egyptian mummies, it simply does not exist. Zimmerman concluded “The virtual absence of malignancies in mummies must be interpreted as indicating their rarity in antiquity, indicating that cancer-causing factors are limited to societies affected by modern industrialisation”.

Zimmerman’s colleague, Professor David, spoke at a conference in early 2010. During her presentation she stated that, “In industrialised societies, cancer is second only to cardiovascular disease as a cause of death. But in ancient times, it was extremely rare.

”There is nothing in the natural environment that can cause cancer,” she noted. “So it has to be a man-made disease, down to pollution and changes to our diet and lifestyle.”

Perhaps all this new evidence should make the US FDA reconsider artificial sweeteners, binders, and preservatives not to mention irradiated food, genetically engineered crops and animals and the newly approved cloning?

For some years many cancer experts have contended that the modern-day malady must have its roots in the modern-day lifestyle, particularly that of the Western culture. The mute mummies have actually communicated a lot: their bodies’ lack of cancers and tumours underscore many researchers’ suspicions and tend to support their theories.

Not content to let physical evidence alone prove the case that cancer is man-made, Zimmerman and an associate, Rosalie David, poured through ancient literature, classical medical writings and investigated fossil records likely to contain the tell-tale signs of encroaching carcinoma but to no significance.

A previous study of thousands of bones from the remains of Neanderthals also failed to turn up evidence of any cancers. According to the study, only one Neanderthal may have been afflicted with cancer, and even that is not proven

Although the ancient Greeks were the first to write of diseases that today would be identified as forms of cancer, the condition was exceedingly rare. It was not until the middle of the 17th Century that medical texts began defining the disease which had suddenly become more prevalent.

Zimmerman asserts that his research shows that distinctive tumours, carcinomas and cancerous lesions only began to be seen about 200 years ago. That falls in line with the beginning of the Industrial Revolution and the introduction of pollutants into the air and water and the addition of chemicals with artificial processing of of foods to preserve them longer than traditional methods of salting, smoking or drying.

Evidences point that an unhealthy lifestyle, smoking, pollution, obesity stress, tension and bad eating habits have made what used to be a relatively rare disease far more widespread. We may thus conclude that wile cancer though may not be entirely man-made, but the hand of humankind in its propagation is very clearly visible.

My brother-in-law recently passed on at age 64 of lung cancer. He was a non-smoker. I believe it’s the polluted environment of Taipei where he lived that contributed to his cancer, which was only detected in the fourth stage – just too advanced for any cure. People say the good die young. At 64, with the advancement of modern medical science, he was indeed young to have passed on.

Can We Really Understand All Things?

By P Chong                  Mon. 29 Mar. 2010

The World In God’s Hands

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” – Isaiah 55: 8-9

From the above quote, it is evident God’s ways are beyond our imagination. Our finite gray matter will in no way capable of understanding God’s ways. God often orchestrated events to show absolutely his glory – happenings that might go against all human understanding and action. For instance:

  • The miraculous deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt with Pharaoh’s

hot pursuit and the parting of the Red Sea.

  • With Lazarus’ death to demonstrate the power of rising up to life again.
  • The underdog story of David and Goliath.
  • The miracle of walking on the water with Peter stepping out of the boat.
  • Judas’ betrayal was one of mystery, but without which there could be no resurrection.

Such unexplainable power is what miracles are all about. “I tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony.” ~ John 3:11. When men are driven to the edge and all things seem impossible, then you’ll see “all men drawn unto Me.”

Today, there is that danger that men are losing touch with God. We are driven closer to our own understanding and supposedly great human intelligence by the progress we are making in the field of human endeavour. Be cautious and be forewarned that we may be feeling all too superior to need God. The converts in the early Church changed the world they lived in because of what they saw and heard. Are we not seeing enough of God’s hands in the happenings in the world today? Do we really want a catastrophic event in order to turn to God?

Let’s build up our faith and demonstrate

That others may be drawn to investigate.

Like the lyrics of an old favourite song of mine:

Have Faith, Hope & Charity

That’s the way to live successfully.”

If this short message touches you, please share it with your loved ones & friends.

China’s Leaping Achievements

History of China

By Paul Chong                                                                              Sunday, 29 November 2009  A Chinese By Descent, An Australian By Consent

President Hu Expounds China’s Views On Development

China can boast of its silk and tea culture long before any other country in the world. Even the technological plough was first discovered in China. By and large, all discoveries were directed towards peaceful use and the enrichment of life and culture, as with the gun powder. Now the world is witnessing an unprecedented quantum growth in China – all within one generation!

China Foreign Reserve    World No. 1

China Oil Consumption    World No. 2

China Trade Value              World No. 3

China Economic Output    World No. 4

Latest: China is the richest nation in the world.

‘Xiang Qian Zou’ – The Road To Riches

The Road To Riches – A Nation of Bicycles To Motor Vehicles

Of the nations in the world today, China stands out progressively tall and strong. It is as though a sleeping dragon is finally awakened. This appears to be the fear of the West. Though an economically strong China is good commercially for all the trading nations in the West, politically China poses a great threat. It is feared that “once China stands up, it won’t topple or be toppled.” That was why precisely Napoleon in his wisdom decided to let China be and not to rouse her.

In retrospect, China is undoubtedly the world’s greatest civilised nation over a continuous period of thousands of years – a civilisation undiminished and unbroken, unlike past civilisations like Egypt, Greece, or the Romans. By any reckoning, China should have by now be far more superior than the rest of the world. Why not?

Map of the “Middle Kingdom”

Of the many reasons why China did not progress beyond its initial lead in technology and discovery, the main cause of which can largely be attributed to its inward looking policy . . . viewing all territories outside the Great Wall of China and its boundaries as barbaric in nature. This nationalistic pride and closed door policy led to its seclusion, totally depriving itself from the inter-change of ideas and exposure to new scientific developments and industrial growth. While China lavished in its culture, philosophy and essentially non-materialistic form of development, it began to lag behind the West in terms of economic industrial growth. In preserving its civilisation from being tainted by corruption, disruption and deterioration, it never knew new growth, development and discoveries elsewhere in the whole wide world. The “Middle Kingdom” realised too late the encroachment of other nations upon its shores and territories. Countries like Britain, Portugal, Japan were making inroads into China through modern superior arms of war instead of its age-old “kung-fu”.

Zhejiang – Economic Zone

To grow, to progress is to change. Sentiment must give way to progress. There is no room for inhibition to changes. Change needs to take place before growth and progress can be attained. It’s attitude more than aptitude that scales the altitude. Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, the great former prime minister of Singapore, is credited for the great strides achieved by the City State. His visionary ideas have no room for inhibition or sentiment to change or any hindrance.

Now, what a change has come about as a result of Deng Xiao Ping’s visionary concept of “Xiang Qian Zou”. In Mandarin, it means “Forward Move”, but by replacing the middle word with the similar pronunciation, it becomes “Moving Forward With Money”. This started a great frenzy for the Chinese striving for monetary progress in all spheres of work and life. China has made a quantum leap – a country virtually with no phone to the modern technology of mobile phones! But capitalistic way of life does have its price. A single generation can witness the most remarkable change & progress. Transformation just sweeps aside all inhibition, resistance and sentiment.

Greed always breed a profound loss of goodness in mankind. Simple honesty, truth, kindness and compassion are lost in the process. The dollar sign is etched prominently on the foreheads of goal-getters. It is evident to an outside observer that the whole civilisation is transformed overnight. China, in its forward economic stride, has done away with its traditional large families, and its door is wide open to the corrupt western way of life. There is a price to be paid, for consequential results cannot be avoided.

Like most economies in the world, the road to riches often affect those who are involved, largely the urban folks, leaving behind a vast majority of the rural peasants. Even then great disparity may result among the urbanites. Encouraged by the concept of “Xiang Qian Zou” and ‘you’ve got to be in it to benefit it’, waves and tides of migrating movement are emptying the youth from the rural and pastoral areas. China is vast country where hundreds of millions of the peasant still labour and toil and are poor by comparison with the urban rich. No doubt, this is creating a set of social chaos unknown before.

Hong Kong, for instance, is a magnetic attraction for mainland Chinese. Tens of thousands cross the border which still has the immigration formality with number restrictions. In 2002 this number has been lifted and the hours of opening has even extended to 12 mid-night. This is largely due to the fact that the constant stream of exchange of people movement just keep on going growing bigger and bigger. The benefits work both ways. The affluent mainland Chinese pour money into Hong Kong, and the Hongkees likewise do the same in respect of investing in cheaper and more attractive housing in Mainland China.

On the more positive & human well being aspects, China has done itself proud by alleviating poverty for the great mass of the population. Consider this report by World Bank: “China has maintained a high growth rate for more than 30 years since the beginning of economic reform in 1978 and this growth has generated a huge increase in average living standards.

China’s sustained growth fueled historically unprecedented poverty reduction.  Based on household surveys by the World Bank, the poverty rate in China in 1981 was 63% of the population.  This rate declined to 10% in 2004, indicating that about 500 million people have climbed out of poverty during this period.’

Update & in a lighter vein:

China, now second largest economy in the world, has 19% of the world’s population, but consumes

. . . 53% of the world’s cement

. . . 48% of the world’s iron ore

. . . 47% of the world’s coal

. . . and the majority of just about every major commodity.

In 2010, China produced 11 times more steel than the United States.

New World Record: China made and sold 18 million vehicles in 2010.

China currently has the world’s fastest train and the world’s largest high-speed rail network.

China is currently the number one producer in the world of wind and solar power.

China currently controls more than 90% of the total global supply of rare earth elements.

In the past 15 years, China has moved from 14th place to 2nd place in the world in published scientific research articles.

China now possesses the fastest supercomputer on the entire globe.

As at the end of March 2011, China has accumulated US$3.04 trillion in foreign currency reserves- the largest stockpile on the entire globe.

Chinese consume 50,000 cigarettes every second …Not an enviable record though …

And here is the secret to the Chinese miracle: There are more pigs in China than in the next 43 pork producing nations combined.

So it is PORK that is driving China !! ENJOY YOUR PORK !

Now . . . you know why we eat “bak kut the” to be one in spirit with our China cousins.

Your comments are invited.

What problems do you envisage for China in this economic crisis?

How would the rest of the world, particularly US, react or act towards China?

What role do you think that China is likely to play on the world stage?

Do you think that China would follow the path of US & change its basic peaceful co-existence policy?

Any others?

Miracles of Miracles in the Desert

By Paul Chong Friday, 13 November 2009

moses-parting-red-sea

Moses Parting the Red Sea

Once in a while we witness & marvel at great happenings of nature & wonder. But when miracles happen frequently on a daily basis all awe & significance are seemingly lost or are taken for granted. This is in reference to undoubtedly the greatest of logistic miracles ever to occur with the lives of the Israelites when wandering through the deserts for 40 long years before reaching the Promised Land.

We often familiarly hear of miracle cure with some deadly or terminal diseases. What seem to be humanly & medically impossible unexpectedly turn out to be possible is what miracle is all about. We would say that his recovery was a blessed miracle – a wonder, marvel, sensation, phenomenon, or a supernatural mystery . . . something unexplainable. A miracle cure goes against all logic of medicine & science.

After the great Exodus from Egypt, Moses led his people through desert land, living it out in hostile environment & wandering for a long 40 years before setting their eyes upon the Promised Land – the Land as promised by God to them “flowing with milk & honey.” Those long years of wandering were destined by God to rid off a generation of idolaters, & people who showed a lack of faith complaining constantly against God.

Originally, it was intended for the Israelites to proceed directly from Egypt to Canaan. In the Book of Numbers 1:46, we learnt that from the 70 that went into Egypt (Genesis 47:27), the total number involved in the Exodus was 603,550 of men 20 years & older. The turning point happened in Numbers 14 when all the people grumbled against the Lord. As a consequence the Lord said that all the people counted in the census would die in the desert except for Caleb & Joshua who would eventually lead the people into Canaan.

Even the rebelliousness of the people rubbed off on Moses & Aaron who were not allowed into the Promised Land, when they failed to give due credit to God for the miracle of producing water from the rock. Thus Moses came to live a 40 year-life in the palace of Pharaoh, 40 years as a refugee in Midian, and 40 years as a leader of the Israelites in the wilderness.

Life in the wilderness must have been hard. By the second census taken in Numbers 26, the total number was 601,730 with Caleb & Joshua surviving from the first census. Can you imagine what kind of logistics & planning is required to feed & care for that multitude of people in the hot wilderness? What was he to do with them?

In the modern scenario, taking from the experience of The Desert Storm of the American Forces in the Middle East, according to the Quartermaster General in the Army, say on the basis of feeding 2 to 3 million soldiers, Moses would require:

  • 1500 tons of food daily
  • 4000 tons of wood to cook the food each day
  • 11,000,000 gallons of water each day for drinking & washing

It would have required Moses to have two freight trains, each as mile long to transport in the food. Similarly, it was necessary to freight in the firewood for the daily requirement. For the water, another freight train with tank carts, 1800 miles long would be necessary. There were no freight trains in the Biblical days!

What about accommodation & camping at the end of the day’s wandering? It’s estimated that a campground two-thirds the size of the State of Rhode Island was required, or a total of 750 square miles long!

Do you think that Moses figured all these logistics & mathematical problems out before departing from Egypt? What about the question of storage of food in a hot, stifling warehouse – so that food might be fit for consumption? The whole affair would require a logistics support team of science, engineering & packaging personnel.

These are just the basic & fundamental requirements & needs of the people, who lived & wandered in the wilderness not for a year or two but for 40 long years. Did we mention the need to clothe them against cold at night & clothing suitable for day’s heat?

Moses couldn’t have conceived all these problems before setting out of Egypt. Moses believed in God. God took care of these things for him. Everything that sustained the lives of the Israelites for 40 years in the wilderness was well provided for by God. There was no logistics support team . . . just one miracle after another.

Lest we forget, getting across the Red Sea was a great miracle. Logistically, if they went on a narrow path, double file, the line would be 800 miles long and would require 35 days & nights to get through. So, there had to be space in the Red Sea, 3 miles wide so that they would walk 5000 abreast to get over in one night.

Now would you ever doubt that God would forsake you?
